TCCDM Pulls One Out..."Brain Cycles" - Radio Moscow (2009)

"Brain Cycles" - Radio Moscow (2009)

A bit of ass-kickery from the little ol' band from Story City, Iowa.  That's right!  Iowa.  Radio Moscow brings some tasty acid rock ferocity into the house.  The kind of fuzzy, wah-wah, whammybar goodness that falls nicely in between the Hendrix Experience and Blue Cheer, but with the biting sprinkle-dust of Jack White attitude.  The album captures that late 60s, early 70s acid-stone rock that just feels right.  No kowtowing from this band.  I love me some psychedelic acid rock and "Brain Cycles" is a lot of fun to spin.

Radio Moscow is mostly a duo with Parker Griggs throwing down guitars, drums, and vocals while Zach Anderson brings the bass bravado.  Sometimes "Blind-Beard" Apple provides some keys.  I haven't heard any of the band's other squares, but "Brain Cycles" is considered by many longtime fans to be their tour-de-force.  Radio Moscow has released five studio albums total, their last being in 2017.  Keep an eye out and grab one.

"Brain Cycles" - Radio Moscow (back)

Favorites include:
"No Good Woman"...the longest track and worth every minute.  Yes, there is a drum solo, but it's entertaining enough and doesn't over-stay.  I'd knock it in a heartbeat if it did.  Here, I'm cool.
"I Just Don't Know"...Not for the faint of heart.  Set it and forget it.
"250 Miles" is a greasy blues riff that morphs into something else.
"No Jane"..."Say good night, Gracie."  "Goodnight Gracie."  Take it out of the oven.  It's done.

Amazon was offering a $10 gc on any order you had sent to a nearby Amazon hub, so I took'em up on it.  I used the $10 on this album and copped it for about $12 with free shipping.  Plus it kept the record purchase out of the unforgiving weather.  "Brain Cycles" comes in a variety of limited colored vinyl.  My copy is on normal black vinyl and possibly just as limited as the others.  On the back cover is printed (Best Played Very HIGH)...and I think I like the artwork on the back a little better as well.  I could not find my deadwax info anywhere on Discogs.  So if anyone has any information, please share.
