I Went...SI--SI--SIRIUS...All The Way Home (again) #64
(a short jaunt)
"The Nazz Are Blue" - The Yardbirds / "Roger The Engineer" (1966)
"I got a hundred and fifty things,
now all I gotta find is you.
And if the Nazz don't help me, baby
you better forget about me too."
I get it. This is just a basic blues rock jam. But Jeff Beck makes it sound popping dough fresh right out of the oven. I have no idea if Beck is the one singing, but if so...he gott'er done. The UK album, "Roger The Engineer"...was released as "Over Under Sideways Down" in the States. Minus a couple of songs. This one for sure. Good Lord, why?! This was their third US album. (NEED)
"Liverpool 8" - Ringo Starr / "Liverpool 8" (2008)
"Liverpool, I left you, said goodbye to Madryn Street.
I always followed my heart, and I never missed a beat.
Destiny was calling, I just couldn't stick around.
Liverpool, I left you, but I never let you down."
At a certain age, a sweet, simple, sentiment can beguile even the most jaded. A long well-lived lifetime will always allow and forgive the drippiest of rhymes if struck with an earnest hammer. Me...I find this song a charmer. Just like the singer/songwriter intended. A love letter to...well, to the world, really. The 15th studio album in Sir Ringo's catalog. (NEED)
"Ragtop Down" - Little Feat / "Rooster Rag" (2012)
"Set them up ladies, I'm coming to town
Driving my Chevy with the rag-top down."
The overall vibe of the band has changed from the wonderful, gnarly Lowell George ways of the past. Of course, it has. But at least the Little Feat fun ball sounds like it's still bouncing around the room. Roll the windows down and warm up the snow. This is Little Feat's 15th album. (NEED)
"WILMA, I'M HOME!"
