Lost Gem: Bloodrock - "Melvin Laid An Egg"

"He's in a sideshow...
making lots of dough.
What can be said for
Melvin and his egg?"
~ Bloodrock ~

Bloodrock's self-titled debut was released in 1970. And is a monster treat and a hugely underrated classic rock offering.

Hailing from Fort Worth, Texas...Bloodrock need cower down to no band. As I've noted in an earlier post...

On this one, Bloodrock...
Out Steps...Steppenwolf.
Out-Sabs...Black Sabbath.
Out-Funks...Grand Funk.

I kid you not.

And the epic closing track..."Melvin Laid An Egg"...has one of the best axe riffs anywhere.
Mindless heavy-metal poundage...begging to be cranked.

Bloodrock should have been huge...but have sadly and unfairly been relegated into the one-trick pony file...(remember "D.O.A.").

Pick this album up!

Have you heard this one?

"Melvin Laid An Egg"

I ain't got the time
to sit and let you play with my mind
Crushing out mistakes
Would you look at all the time it takes.
Sweeping through the minutes of the day
Keeping time for lack of things to say.

I just want to go home
and have myself an ice cream cone.
Be all by my ?
if you're gonna make my bed I'll lie.
Dreaming of the roads we should have took.
Melvin laid an egg...come and look.

He's in a sideshow.
Making lots of dough
What can be said for Melvin and his egg?

I ain't got the time
to explain my mind.

Good stuff!

Whiteray...sup my music brother!

I think Bloodrock may surprise you with some of their jams.

Vintage underrated rock.

And I have just deleted your old address and added your new one.
Very nice, indeed!

Anon...You caught yourself a real nice memory. Bloodrock (and heavy metal, for that matter) was a hungry force to reckon with.

Wished I could have been a witness.
