"An Electric Storm" - White Noise (1969) White Noise's 1969 debut album, "An Electric Storm" was eye-opening stuff and an early example of electronica being pushed forward. Much like Fifty Foot Hose and The United States of America, White Noise was opening doors and frying minds one psychedelic lava lamp at a time. Filled with early arrays of tape recording trickery, bizarre song ideas, and strange male-female vocals, "An Electric Storm" is an eerie, atmospheric mind-tease. Side one is a trippy affair with some pop sensibilities. Side two is trippy as well, but much, much darker. Late-night listening on headphones can be downright spooky. Fun...but spooky. "An Electric Storm" is experimental electronica with an avant-garde GPS and easily falls under the psychedelic umbrella. Not for everyone, but I kind of dig the weird stuff.
