TCCDM Pulls One Out..."Mob Rules" - Black Sabbath (1981)

"Mob Rules" - Black Sabbath (1981)

"Heaven And Hell" with Ronnie James Dio helped rescue Black Sabbath from a damaged ship.  Their 10th album follow-up, "Mob Rules," was full steam ahead.  Sabbath storms right outta the gate from the needle drop and takes names.  No arguments.  There are moments while spinning this album when Ronnie James' vocals simply make you shake your head with satisfaction.  Of course, Dio's vocals are awesome.  Everyone knows that.  But on this square, his "chill-out to rage-out" vocals are on full display and show just how special the song-cat really was.  This is some of Dio's best work ever, and it's all in one delicious place.

And the same can be said for the talents of Tony IommiIommi fires off one blistering lead after another.  One crunchy riff after another.  And dares anyone to ask him who shot John.  His solos are especially fiery on "…Southern Cross" and "Over And Over", but I'm just cherry-picking.  His presence is solid front to back.  It's as if Iommi and Dio were just showing off for each other, and we get a front row seat to enjoy the engagement.  And pour the consistently solid Geezer and Appice some Chock-Full o' Nuts as well for a job well done.  Everybody wins.  After this high mark, Dio was offered the chance to do his own thing...and good for him.  But Dio was a good fit for Black Sabbath, and "Mob Rules" shows it.

This is an OG copy with the deadwax showing the pressing was at Specialty Records in Pennsylvania.  The vinyl is in excellent condition, but for the lightest paper scratch that doesn't affect play.  This was an online purchase for $20 shipped.  The shipping was waived because the seller said he would be away for three weeks.  I crossed my fingers and received a beautiful copy with just a minor corner ding.
