"An Electric Storm" - White Noise (1969)

White Noise's 1969 debut album, "An Electric Storm" was eye-opening stuff and an early example of electronica being pushed forward.  Much like Fifty Foot Hose and The United States of America, White Noise was opening doors and frying minds one psychedelic lava lamp at a time.  Filled with early arrays of tape recording trickery, bizarre song ideas, and strange male-female vocals, "An Electric Storm" is an eerie, atmospheric mind-tease.

Side one is a trippy affair with some pop sensibilities.  Side two is trippy as well, but much, much darker.  Late-night listening on headphones can be downright spooky.  Fun...but spooky.  "An Electric Storm" is experimental electronica with an avant-garde GPS and easily falls under the psychedelic umbrella.  Not for everyone, but I kind of dig the weird stuff.

Favorites include:
"Love Without Sound"
“The Visitations”
“Your Hidden Dreams”

My copy is a 1971 repress with the "colored ears" cover.  (Original covers were black with lightning bolts.) The vinyl is a solid VG+ and came with its original blue Island company inner sleeve.  The album cover also has a bb hole in the top-right corner.  I didn't get a bargain price, but fair.  Btw...sound scientist and White Noise member, Delia Derbyshire was the creator of the "Dr. Who Theme" for the long-running show.
