TCCDM Pulls One Out..."Fear Of The Dawn" - Jack White (2022)

"Fear Of The Dawn" - Jack White (2022)

Drop the needle on this square and hear the downpour of guitar bees swarming out of the speakers like an industrial rush.  And some mad bass determined to get in its two cents.  Trippy synth fills in the gaps along with plenty of Jack White's trademark shenanigans.  Speed ups, slowdowns, electronic flips, and twists. A splatter of psych.  Unexpected louies and ducks and swerves and dodges.  Just a blender of blues rock and funk run amok.

"Fear Of The Dawn"...White's 4th solo album is surprising and strange like a freakazoid communion.  But is it any good?  There are some days when my brain feels like the whole world is trying to take a monster crap in my driveway near the mailbox.…but after cranking this monster montage, I feel almost baptized.  Clean, refreshed, and ready to grab some West Virginia pepperoni rolls.  But that's just me.  Enter At Your Own Risk.

I received a price drop notification from Amazon that Jack White's "FOTD" had a ridiculous number of $14.  After ordering, I later learned from the vinyl community a few bad pressings were out there and it was kind of a dice roll what you'd get.  I just crossed my fingers.  So here's my short epistle on my purchase.

My copy was pressed on black vinyl and included three inserts w/lyrics.  Everything looked great, but unfortunately, I received a wanker.  The record had a drop-off midway through the spin and lots of pops.  I notified Amazon, explained the problem, and returned the record.  (Amazon made this pretty easy for me.)  Four days later, another copy arrived and it sounded great.  The mix was compressed a bit more than I would've liked, however, the dropoff was completely gone, and no more crackles or pops.  On further inspection, I noticed the square they sent had a slightly different matrix in the deadwax.  ("B IV" on side two for anyone keeping score.)  Anyway, this one works for me.  "I'm going to Wichita."  Oh wait, I'm already there.  Excellent!
