"Demon & Eleven Children" - Blues Creation (1971 - Rei 2022)

"Demon & Eleven Children" is a banger of an album to spin.  The music is early 70s heavy acid rock that recalls early Black Sabbath quite a bit.  Not as dark and gloomy, but the blistering guitar riffing and time-changing are in that same mold.  Guitarist Kazuo Takeda is your frontline server and he burns up the ears nicely.

There are some nice psychedelic moments here and there, mostly from the mellower atmospheric tracks.  The floaty change-ups play pretty nice with the burners.  However, the bar boogie "Mississippi Mountain Blues" sounds out of place on this excellent heavy metal offering.  Breaks the magic if you will.  And that's too bad because it's a good song in its own right.  Blues Creation was one of several Japanese bands that had all the right stuff and I plan on checking more of them out.

Favorites include the rabid opener..."Atomic Bombs Away."  The amazing "Sorrow" leaves a tasty mark.  And the monster powderkeg "Just I Was Born" does not dare go lightly.

I grabbed my copy back in January online.  The price had temporarily dropped in my cart and I jumped.  The album is on heavyweight vinyl but not the heaviest.  The record is held in a gatefold sleeve and includes a two-sided insert with lyrics and credits...both in Japanese and English.  "Demon & Eleven Children" is the square that's been exercising my turntable a lot this year.

Interview -- Elliot Lurie (Looking Glass)

"...Your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea." ~ Looking Glass ~ Elliot Lurie was a singer/songwriter for the 70s band Looking Glass . The band recorded two albums and had a couple of hits along with a handful of deep-track FM cuts.  And as many bands are wont to do... Looking Glass called it a day and handed over the keys.  However, before cutting out, Looking Glass did leave us with the #1 hit song...
